This privacy policy governs your use of CravingCure application
(“Application”) created by Knowledge Excel as part of a Drexel University
research study.
CravingCure is an application designed to support data collection for a
research study that aims to understand cravings for ultra-processed foods.
Knowledge Excel and Drexel University disclaim liability for any injuries or
damages resulting from or arising out of or in connection with the use of
Application.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you are consenting to our processing of User
Provided and Automatically Collected information as set forth in this
Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. "Processing,” means using
cookies on a computer/handheld device or using or touching information in
any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using,
combining and disclosing information, all of which activities will take place
in the United States. If you reside outside the U.S. your information will be
transferred to the U.S. and processed and stored there under U.S. privacy
standards. By using the website and providing information to us, you
consent to such transfer to, and processing in, the U.S.
What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?
The Application collects certain information described below, for the
purposes of a research study being conducted by Erica LaFata, Ph.D. at
Drexel University, called the Development of a Just-in-Time Intervention to
Reduce Ultra-Processed Food Intake (the “Study”).
The Study Research Team (“Research Team”), which includes the
Principal Investigator (LaFata), project coordinator, and graduate- and
undergraduate-level psychology students, will only collect/use/share this
information in compliance with this privacy policy, the Informed Consent
you previously signed, and any applicable laws.
“Automatically Collected Information” – The Application collects technical
information about your device and use of the Application when you log into
it. Information such as your device’s operating system, the version of the
Application, and the frequency the Application is accessed/used is
collected by the Application and may be used to analyze and improve the
quality of the Application.
“User Provided Information” – The Application obtains the information you
enter into it voluntarily when you download the Application and log into the
account that is created for you by the Research Team as part of your Study
participation. Only enrolled participants of the Study will be able to log into
the Application and use its features. In accord with your Informed Consent
to participate in the Study, the following information is collected from the
Application. You are asked to provide your email address to the Research
Team, which will be used to create an account for you on the Application. A
username and password are generated for you, and you have the option to
change your password. You also provide responses to the study
questionnaires through the Application. The Application collects the time
you respond to each survey, as well as the latitudinal and longitudinal
coordinates of your location when you submit each survey. We may also
use the information you provided us to contact you from time to time to
provide you with important information.
We will share your information with third parties only in the ways that are
described in this privacy statement.
The Research Team reserves the right to use and disclose your User
Provided and Automatically Collected Information: per your Informed
Consent to participate in the Study, as required by law (such as to comply
with a subpoena, or similar legal process); when we believe in good faith
that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the
safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request; to
our third party service providers who work on behalf of the Research Team
and do not have independent use of the information we disclose to them
and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy policy.
Data Retention Policy, Managing Your Information
We will retain User Provided data in accordance with your Informed
Consent to participate in the Study.
You may stop participating in the Study at any time, please note, that if you
withdraw from the Study, you will no longer be able to participate in the
Study or use the Application. If you withdraw from the Study the Research
team will retain the information about you that was collected in the
Application prior to your withdrawal to assure the integrity of the Study
results. Any User Provided data that is retained by the Research Team will
be used/disclosed in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
If you’d like us to delete User Provided Data that you have provided via the
Application, please contact us at contact@cravingcureadmin.com and we
will respond in a reasonable time. Please note that some or all of the User
Provided Data may be required in order for the Application to function
properly, and we may be required to retain certain information by law.
Children
We do not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to
children under the age of 18. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that
his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or
she should immediately contact us at contact@cravingcureadmin.com. We
will delete such information from our files within a reasonable time.
Security
We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your
information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to
protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access
to this information to authorized employees and contractors who need to
know that information to operate, develop or improve our Application.
Please be aware that, although we endeavor to provide reasonable security
for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all
potential security breaches.
Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We
will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new
Privacy Policy in the Application. You are advised to consult this Privacy
Policy regularly for any changes.
